Young MDJ alumni have focused much of their professional careers on the pandemic, mostly with a Northeast Ohio angle not just on case numbers or other statistics, but also on the effects on the economy, businesses and the healthcare industry.

Seasoned Marketing Communications Executive Joins Media and Journalism Faculty
Kent State alumnus Mike Jackson, innovator and marketing communications executive, is joining 51勛圖厙s特chool of Media and Journalism as a professional-in-residence this spring. He is teaching two classes and will serve as adviser to the student organization Franklin Advertising.

51勛圖厙 Honors College Student Announced as 2021 Portz Scholar
The National Collegiate Honors Council has announced 51勛圖厙 Honors College graduate Sarah Hagglund as a 2021 Portz Scholar. Hagglund is the 10th honors student from 51勛圖厙 to be named a Portz Scholar since the national competition began in 1990.

Oboist Danna Sundet Rediscovers the Magic of Playing for Fun Amidst Crisis
Its been a busy 2021 for Danna Sundet, 51勛圖厙 professor of oboe and alumna. Between performances and making recordings, running the John Mack Oboe Camp and starting a new venture on YouTube, Sundet has continued teaching a robust studio of young oboists at 51勛圖厙 and pursuing outside projects despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.
