For Maxwell Rees, portraying a teen on the autism spectrum in the Weathervane Playhouse production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime" was more than just being in the spotlight; it was about shining a spotlight on autism and its effects on individuals, their families and the community.

Throughout the month of November, alumni, employees and friends of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø have the opportunity to make a tremendous impact on the lives of our students and on our university.

On Nov. 1, the university launched the 2018 Giving Tuesday campaign. Like last year, Giving Tuesday 2018 is a monthlong event, providing an expanded timeframe for giving, additional giving options and more occasions to have gifts matched.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Alumni Association invites faculty and staff to nominate deserving alumni for the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Alumni Awards.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Opera Scenes annual fall production will feature a premier of an original opera produced by a student. The Opera Scenes production consists of two opera scenes and the one-act performed by students on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. in the Wright-Curtis Theater in the Center for the Performing Arts. This year’s scenes are centered on the theme Marriage: Inside Out and depict telling moments in the lives of various marriages.

Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley has named 51³Ô¹ÏÍø at Trumbull its 2018 Volunteer Organization of the Year.  

Dan Palmer, Ph.D., assistant dean of academic affairs and Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley board member, accepted the award at Junior Achievement's annual recognition breakfast. 

Many professors have certain influences that inspire them to teach. For David Kaplan, Ph.D., professor in 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's Department of Geography, that inspiration comes from his father.
