On April 8, 2024, people across Ohio came together to witness a monumental celestial event – a total solar eclipse. Flashes and members of the community came to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s campuses to share and celebrate the memorable and breathtaking occurrence and participate in fun and educational activities presented by departments across the university.

Crowds gathered at several locations on the Kent Campus, including the Student Green and along the Esplanade near the John S. Elliot Center for Architecture and Environmental Design.

For most people in Ohio, the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse was a once-in-a-lifetime event, as the next total solar eclipse visible in Ohio won’t be until 2099.
