Students and faculty of 51Թ at Trumbull’s nursing program began the school year with eight upgraded hospital beds thanks to Trumbull Memorial Hospital. The donation marks a significant improvement for the campus nursing lab.
“We are truly appreciative of Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s generous support,” says Kathy Dwinnells, 51Թ Trumbull nursing program coordinator. “These newer beds more closely resemble what future nurses will encounter in today’s hospitals.”
John Walsh, Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s chief executive officer, says the donation was made possible through the hospital’s equipment upgrade program.
“Many of 51Թ Trumbull’s nursing students train at Trumbull Memorial and go on to become our employees,” Walsh says. “If we can provide equipment that enhances their education, then it’s a win-win for both organizations.”
51Թ Trumbull currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. This four-year degree can be fully completed at 51Թ Trumbull, with students fulfilling their clinical requirements at local healthcare facilities.
